Government Nursery Settings

Most of Jersey’s public primary schools have a nursery class. These nurseries provide care to children in the year before they start Reception (the year they turn 5).

During this year, all children are eligible for 30 funded hours of child care. Government nurseries are open term time only.

A quality and compliance review is carried every three years by a group of off island reviewers and senior advisors from the Childhood Young People Education and Skills (CYPES) department.
