How We Support the Future Workforce

We recognise that in order to have a thriving early years sector, we need high quality, engaged early years students who are passionate about developing a career within the early years sector.

Working in early years opens up an industry full of opportunities. It’s a career path with many outcomes such as becoming self-employed, working in nurseries, schools, other government departments or securing a role within the charity sector to name just a few.  It’s a career that will bring enjoyment and job satisfaction to your every day, seeing the children you work with develop as individuals and knowing that you’re giving them the best possible start in life.

The early years age group describes children aged 0-5. The first few years of a child’s life are crucial and anyone working within the prenatal stages of parenthood through to babies and young children and their families, play an important role in supporting them to reach their full potential.

Through our ‘Best Start Together’ programme we have:

  • Worked on developing new ways to engage people into the early years workforce.
  • Established a workforce team to develop new career pathways.
  • Developed new CPD opportunities for students, prior to entering the workforce and for those studying whilst in the workplace.
  • Funded Level 3 Highlands Student places, to get more qualified staff into the early years workforce.
