The FNHC Health Visiting Service is available to all parents and families in Jersey during pregnancy until children reach school age, at which point our School Nursing service is available.
As part of the Healthy Child Programme, the Health visiting service will contact you:
- Before you have your baby
- Ten to fourteen days after the birth of your baby
- Six to Eight weeks after birth
- When your baby is four months old (to focus on introducing solid food)
- When your baby is twelve months old (for a development review)
- When your child is two years old (for a further development review)
From January 2025, all children the year before they start school will be offered an additional developmental review. These take place in the child’s Nursery, with the Family Nursing and Home Care professional, the child’s keyworker or class teacher and the child’s parent/carer present. At this developmental review, families receive a ‘Me at Three’ box, which contains two picture books for every child, high quality crayons, information for parents about supporting their child’s communication and language development, a bookmark from 50 Things to do Before You’re Five, information leaflet from Public Health and activity ideas to try at home.
If you are interested in attending a Family Nursing and Home Care Weaning Workshop, Pop in and Play or Breastfeeding Buddies session, please contact the health visiting team using the details on the flyer below. Well Baby Clinics are drop-in sessions, with no invite needed.
