Childhood and Early Years Service (CEYS) – 2025 Autumn Training Directory We are delighted to have Ruth Swailes here on island this week. Ruth Swailes – Independent Education Consultant all Early Years practitioners and teachers are invited to attend any of Ruth’s sessions, listed in the directory above. Some details about Ruth’s upcoming training events here; Getting it Right from the Start:Exploring and developing best practice for children in the EYFSDetail of training opportunities with Ruth over the year:We understand that due to finding and funding cover in schools and settings you may not be able to send a delegate to all of Ruth’s sessions. We also understand that you may want to allow for more than one member of staff to have access to these CPD opportunities. Please discuss with your team and decide what would suit your team’s needs best and sign up for the sessions that would be most appropriate.Please ensure that you register delegates for the sessions that they will be attending through the booking form. The following sessions are designed to support EYFS leads and experienced teachers and room leaders of young children in schools/settings to lead their team with confidence and skill, whilst developing a suitable curriculum to meet the needs of our youngest learners. All sessions are research informed and will consider the developmental stages of the EYFS, allowing delegates to think and reflect to ensure that they provide the teaching and learning opportunities and experiences children require to make the very best start to their education. All sessions are open to all teachers and practitioners working in the Early Years Sector. Getting it Right from the Start with an outline of what leaders and teachers can expect from the different sessions available over the year, why the sessions are important (research and context) and a plan for how they can ensure best practice in their own EYFS settings.PM Session: Building the vision and Self Evaluation – for EY teachers. Delegates will be supported to reflect on the needs of their children and communities in order to build a secure vision for their Early Years provision. They will also be provided with tools to evaluate their current provision and practice and identify areas for development in their own settings. Me, myself and I – Twilight SessionVenue D’Auvergne SchoolTime 6.30-8.30pmDeveloping a sense of self in the Early Years. Supporting children’s self – regulation and executive function – training available to all to all EYFS Practitioners across government and registered sector. Building curriculum – 27.11.25 Day 2Venue JET Building Dewey/Malala RoomTime 9am-3pmBuilding curriculum: How to plan for progression whilst meeting the unique needs of all children. Ruth will be drawing on her experience of writing the Oxford International Early Years Curriculum as well as extensive experience supporting MAT’s and schools with curriculum design so that they are able to tailor the curriculum for their children to ensure that they are ready for the next stage of their education. I Like to Move It – 5.3.26 Day 3Venue JET Building Dewey/Malala RoomTime 8.30am-2pmSupporting children’s physical development in the Early Years and beyond.Why movement matters! This day will support practitioners to understand the impact of physical development on children’s health, wellbeing, sense of self and cognitive development. Delegates will leave with a range of useful tools and ideas to support children’s physical development both indoors and out. Effective Interactions and Oracy in the Early Years – 6.3.26 Day 4Venue JET Building Dewey/Malala RoomTime 9am-3pmWith our ongoing focus on the importance of Communication and Language, and Early Literacy Ruth will explore the importance of our effective interactions and oracy in Early Years settings and how every moment matters when engaging with children to support their development particularly around language. New “Nestle and Nurture” Group supports Perinatal Wellbeing. Mind Jersey is delighted to introduce Nestle and Nurture, a warm and welcoming group for mothers and babies designed to support emotional wellbeing during the perinatal period from birth up to 2 years of age.The group offers a safe, non-judgemental space for mothers to relax, connect and share experiences with others who understand the challenges and joys of this stage of life. Rooted in Mind Jersey’s values of compassion, respect and empowerment, Nestle and Nurture focuses on promoting positive mental health, building confidence, and nurturing the bond between mother and baby. Nestle and Nurture will be held on the first Friday of every month, starting 7th November from 1:00 to 2:30pm at Pips Place. All mothers and babies are warmly invited to come along, take a breath, and feel supported as they navigate their journey through early motherhood. |
